Nils Eckstein

Machine Learning Research Scientist

I’m a Deep Learning Researcher focused on scaling deep learning to challenging biomedical domains. Currently developing foundation models for Oncology at kaiko.ai, with work across vision, language, and multimodal systems. My research interests include multimodal fusion, interpretability, and representation learning. Prior to this, I did my PhD in ML for Neuroscience at ETH Zurich and HHMI Janelia, where I developed deep learning approaches for connectomics – analyzing petabyte-scale electron microscopy data to map neural circuits in the fruit fly brain. Originally trained in physics.
